I have pretty much always run a home network. I have 2 laptop computers, 2 Desktop computers and one "old" NAS (A lenovo ix2). I have run Windows 11 on all my computers since it came out. In the past I have had a few problems with the network, but always seemed to work them out pretty easily. I decided to update to 24H2 and WOW the problems have become unmanageable. I converted my desktops back to 23H2 so I could still access my data on my NAS. Since then I have tried to get my laptops (24H2) to see my desktops (23H2). I have read all the Microsoft suggestions and all the tips on the web but 24H2 home networking seems to be a dark hole. I have ordered a new Synology NAS to see if I can get 24H2 to see it. If so I will convert one of my desktops to 24H2 and see if I can get the laptops to see it. Has anyone else run in to so many problems with 24H2 networking?

If a Windows 11 device running version 24H2 cannot see a device running 23H2 on the network, it's likely due to a known issue with the 24H2 update where network discovery might be impacted, causing devices on the same network to not appear properly; however, this issue has been addressed by recent Windows updates, so ensure you have the latest patches installed on your 24H2 device.

Press the Windows logo key + R.

In the Run dialog box, type services.msc, and then select OK. Right-click each of the following services, select Properties, if they're not running, select Start, and next to Startup type, select Automatic:
  • Function Discovery Provider Host
  • Function Discovery Resource Publication
  • SSDP Discovery
  • UPnP Device Host
For NAS example .. Must enable "Server Signing" on NAS. Make sure any related username & passwords and key-in appropriately. Also tick "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection"

Disable Firewall temporarily to find cause ..

From command prompt, run following command .. Get-NetConnectionProfile .. see if the NetworkCategory : Private

Restart all the related computers simultaneously and try this method (enable all these on all 24H2 and 23H2);
