I connected to MS in America and they sorted out some problems. I set up a PIN as MS kept asking me for one. Problem is, I don't want to log on with a 4 digit pin. I want my old password back. Is there a way of switching this back to sign on with an account again?

Usually a password has been necessary for the Microsoft Account when setting up Windows then a PIN could be assigned to that password. In the past I have gotten around it a couple times by doing the required setup then add a New User account as a Local Account with Administrator Rights and no password. Then I reboot into the new account and remove the Microsoft Account. The latest Notebook I got came with Windows 11 S mode and Microsoft 365 [it was cheap and I wanted it for the included year of Office] and did not ask for the password, only a PIN. Then I took it out of S mode.

PIN is the Password itself .. to disable PIN (digits only) and enable Password, remove the PIN (usually digits) and re-setup the PIN and tick use characters in the PIN, so this will automatically switch from digits only to character mixed with digits as password ..

There's no Password only features .. :)

I see where you are comming from but the original PC when I got it had both Password and PIN. Now I am having my life taken over by google chrome. Every time I go to a website I am getting this pop up. I never had that before. No I have to jump through hoops entering a PIN password in order to get to my website. If I didn't have a PIN then google chrome wouldent behave like this.

No I have a Windows PIN, google insists that I use it. When I used a password it didn't and I did have both password and PIN as options as well as fingerprint and face recognition. Password has been removed in the list of options.

Could there be a way of plugging in a fingerprint reader? That would simplify things.

I also have a basic web cam: LifeCam3.22_3000 but would that work for facial recognition or do I need a more specialised one.

Solution is simple. When doing a fresh install: DON'T log on at the start. As Bighorn states. If it doesn't know you have an account when Installing it will add Password as an extra option. I am however lookinh into the idea of face recognition for signing in to a website. Do I need a special web cam. I have heard Hi-def 4K mentioned and 3D.

It's Passkey to ease login authentication for the account owner, myself have set all my ten fingers biometric as authentication to ease "Passwordless" logon, very much helpful sinceIam lazy to type password manually each and everytime the session ends ..
