I tried to open a file in my external drive and I get this message, " E: OC1 HK photos is not accessible. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)". I last time I had this error on another file, I did a CHKDSK utility scan and click repair after scan was done and the file with the error disappeared and I can't find it anywhere. I don't want the same thing to happen. How do I fix this?

A CRC error usually means that the file is damaged and cannot be restored. If the error happens more frequently would indicate that your drive is on the brink of failing. As of now I would copy anything on the drive to another drive or you may lose everything
