File explorer 'decrease space between items' has stopped working

I like the 'Compact Vew' for File Explorer. However, something (and I don't know what) has changed and now, even though it is set in the Options, it doesn't do anything any more.

There used to be a Regedit setting to do that. Can anyone tell me what it should be?
