I have a laptop running Windows 11 and I would like to automatically change the brightness settings when it is disconnected from power. I thought Windows had a setting that would automatically do that but I don't see that in Windows 11 anymore. Can someone help? If it has been taken off in recent updates is there any 3rd party alternative?

There is a Power Options item in the Control Panel that may be of help but I didn't see a setting for dimming, mine dim automatically after a few minutes.

In Windows 11, to automatically adjust the brightness when unplugged, first go to SettingsSystemDisplay, and check if there’s an option like Automatically adjust brightness or Adaptive brightness.

If you don't see this, try updating your display drivers through Device Manager. Additionally, when you're on battery, Windows will often lower the brightness automatically as part of the Battery Saver mode, which can be adjusted in SettingsSystemPower & Battery.

Unfortunately, if these options are missing or don't work as expected, there isn't a built-in setting for more detailed control, and you'd need to use third-party apps for automatic brightness changes.

There is only one way, use Windows inbuilt power-saving option. You can search for it on your control panel.

Just use the Control Panel Power settings rather than using pre-assigned in Windows, this will save more battery options ..
