Did you try to delete the file from the cmd prompt (as Administrator) ? But you need to know the exact location of the file; see: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...sing-cmd/7107aa3c-c49b-42f2-ad41-42d90d356d24

If this does not work, install "PowerRun" from Sordum: https://www.sordum.org/9416/powerrun-v1-7-run-with-highest-privileges/
You can then run cmd prompt or powershell with highest priviledges as "Trusted installer" and delete the file from the cmd line.
What you can't do however is running explorer.exe itself as "Trusted installer".

Another solution is "RunX" from d7Xtech: https://www.d7xtech.com/free-software/runx/; (same restriction for explorer.exe).

---

Edit: form the Windows Explorer, you could try this: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/add-take-ownership-to-context-menu-in-windows-11.1230/ , but I am not convinced, it will work !

I read all of the above.

Did you just read my proposals or did you try them out ?

I get a popup message saying: can't be done while the explorer is open

I just put a file on my destop, run "cmd" (as an Administrator) in "Runx", left the "cmd window" open, went to the "Taskmanager" and stopped the task "Explorer.exe". The screen went black, but the cmd console was still there and worked. I put in at the cmd prompt: "del c:\users\MY NAME\Desktop\FILE NAME" and hit enter. (After the "del" cmd, there is no confirmation from cmd prompt).

After restart the file was gone !
