Laptop displaying Black Screen despite working Fans and Lights

My laptop was functioning normally until last night when it suddenly displayed a black screen. The fan, sound, and keyboard lights are working fine, but the screen remains black. I often forget to charge my laptop and sometimes leave the AC cable plugged in while using it.
Two days ago, I saw a notification for an update but chose to shut down without updating. I’m wondering if this might be related.
Can anyone tell me what to do now?

The power mentioned shouldn't be an issue but one client I had used a house keeper who would dust/clean the top of her Notebook, got called out twice because the key combination of Fn plus another F key getting pressed would turn the screen off. It toggles the built-in screen, the VGA port used for a projector or monitor or both at the same time.
