I tried logging into my Microsoft account, but it said the account could not be found. When attempting to log into my Xbox, it asked for a password for a completely different email, which didn't work. How likely is it to recover my account? For the account recovery form, should I use the new email or the original email linked to the account?

I tried using my phone number but it didn't work either. The recovery form asks for the email associated with the account and I'm not sure if I should use the original email or the one that seems to have taken over my account. Does anyone know which one i should use?

Here are a few additional tips that might help. First, check your email filters and forwarding settings because hackers sometimes set up email forwarding rules to intercept recovery emails. If you get back into your account, make sure to check and remove any suspicious rules.
And if you’ve bought any games, apps, or subscriptions using your Microsoft account, mention those transactions in your recovery form. It can help verify your identity. Once you recover your account, enable two-factor authentication to add an extra layer of security. Hope this helps!

If you’re still having trouble, you might also want to check if you can access other services using the same email (like Outlook, Skype, etc.). Sometimes you can recover your account through a connected service. Also, don’t hesitate to contact Microsoft Support via phone or chat. They can sometimes offer solutions that aren’t available through the standard recovery form. Filing a security report with Microsoft about the compromised account can sometimes expedite the recovery process. The more information you provide, the better your chances of recovery :)
