Going nuts trying to figure out why I get many duplicate entries in the task manager. This has been going on for some time now and it's more prevalent in using AOL but happens elsewhere too. AOL give me many "CefSharp.Browse Subprocess" entries (52) in the background processes which uses up a lot of memory. Bing has way too many entries (32). Sometimes AOL will use over 1200 MB of memory. This is only on one computer. Others have no problem. Does anyone have any ides of how to get ride of all of these duplicates? I would copy and paste the task manager but it won't let me.

The multiple entries in Task Manager are normal for apps like AOL and Bing since they use separate processes for different tasks. CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess is part of the AOL app, which runs on Chromium. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Restart your PC – This can sometimes clear unnecessary background processes.
  2. Update or reinstall AOL – Download the latest version from the official site or uninstall and reinstall it.
  3. Check for malware – Run Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection or use Malwarebytes to scan for any issues.
  4. Limit background processes – Open Task Manager > Startup and disable apps you don’t need running at startup.
  5. Try using AOL in a browser – If the desktop app is using too much memory, switching to the web version might help.
If the issue continues, check for Windows updates and update your drivers to see if that helps.
