Onedrive Shortcuts Opening in Browser Instead of Onedrive PC App

When I click on shortcuts in my Onedrive, it opens Onedrive in the browser instead of my Onedrive PC app. I want to access shared files on my Onedrive from the app and not the browser. Additionally, I want to work on these shared files and have them synced. I tried making shortcuts of the shared files to my Onedrive, but it's not giving me the desired result. The shortcut doesn't sync any files and instead opens the browser instead of the Onedrive app. Please help.
