How do I transfer saved photos from a Windows 10 machine to a new Windows 11 machine? I can't find where the photos are stored.

Click on file Explorer in the Windows 11 machine. Expand This PC. There should be files for Photos, Music, etc. there. I would copy the photos to an external hard drive, then to the new computer-Copy/Paste twice. HTH

As @Charliedog said above, the simple / easy way is probably best to use an external resource like a USB Thumb Drive
AND
Be sure to copy (not cut, or move), always copy until you are certain that everything is as you expect it to be.
IF you do not want to maintain them in two locations, you can always go back and delete them once you are certain that they are safe and well in their new location.

And about photo location, you just right click on any photo in your file explorer and click on "open file location"

*cough* default location *cough* (Mine are definitely not located there, for example. Just in case somebody forgot that they moved their Pictures folder.)
