Opening Edge or Chrome or Firefox and browser search bar fills with ****** asterisks. Have to delete all before using for normal search. Also at random will fill a cell when using excel. Software / Hardware / Faulty keyboard or suggestions please?

Keyboard problem, try replacing your keyboard and see if the problem resolved.
I have a separate USB keyboard attached but cannot find a system way in Windows 11 to disable the laptop keyboard which is where I suspect the issue is. Various system settings changed and the HID keyboard removed from Device Manager but always seems to reappear and be active following a reboot?
