Surface Pro 8 light up keyboard

I have owned this device for almost 18 months. During that time the light-up keyboard would always stay on after turning the device back on. Now, when the laptop powers off the keyboard shuts off when the laptop is turned back on?
Any Ideas?
This happened after the 21h2 update.

Any help is appreciated.
