When I try to install the serial driver on my laptop for my coding class, I get a message saying, This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC check with the software publisher. Can someone please help me? I need to get my work done!

Getting knowledgeable help does require knowledge about the specifications of the computer, what program is being used and what the 'serial' device is. Serial usually meant ports on the computer for communication devices.

Good Luck! Serial ports, even when available, are just not used anymore.

Are you sure there is a Serial Port on your PC? If there is one, is it enabled in the BIOS?
I do have one, on my 12 yr old motherboard, but I have it disabled in the BIOS.

If there is a Serial driver, it would most likely have to come from the Motherboard manufacturer.

Most latest applications are for USB and not for legacy Serial ports and even if you didn't mention the name of the application, I assume you're on USB to Serial which means RS232? ..
