Trouble logging in to the Xbox app on my computer

It repeatedly asks for a code or password without progressing. I've tried resetting both the password and the app, but did not help. While I can log in through system settings and the store app the Xbox app shows an error message about my store account. Clicking "fix now" prompts another pop-up asking me to confirm my purchase account due to recent system changes.
