I need to copy my C-drive contents and folders onto an external drive before doing a Windows system restore, but I cannot find an active Administrator local user account to log on with which is now a Win 11 security requirement.Im not an IT techie, so is there a workaround for this issue ? How does a standard user create an Administrator user in this situation? Same question applies if I want to change my standard user priveledges into administrator status! Its a catch-22 but surely MS didnt design it this way as it make no sense.Microsoft Tech support were not much help!

To enable the HIDDEN administrator account in Windows using the command prompt, you can type net user administrator /active:yes. You can open the command prompt as an administrator by following these steps:
  1. Click the Start button
  2. Type Command Prompt
  3. Right-click Command Prompt
  4. Click Run as administrator
  5. Click Yes if prompted by the User Account Control
To disable the administrator account, you can type net user administrator /active:no

To make yourself in the administrator group, open command prompt and type lusrmgr.msc and as below window, double click your username and add yourself in the Administrator group.

I have tried this command,but when I get to the 'member of' icon in User properties, it only lists Users and nothing else.Im using Win11 Pro 2023 version, installed by an IT support organisation who have now removed my Hosted client account following merger with a Corporate IT company that doesnt want private clients any more.Its placed me in an awkward position as they set me up with Bitlocker passwords that I was never given and now they refuse to hand then over!So if you have any tips on how I can remove all Bitlocker activity I would welcome it.As things stand Bitlocker codes are stopping me doing most PC management tasks apart from basic stuff, and Im being told I have to have admin rights all the time.

Use Task Manager .. eg. below;

1. Open Task Manager (Press CTRL+ALT+DEL) key or Right-Click at Taskbar
2. Click the Run New Task as in item number 1
3. Tick the Check Box at item number 2 below (where it will state Run As Administrator) and run CMD

P/S - Ignore the unseen Check Box in my screenshot as I have my completely modified Windows system to run as Administrator at anytime ..

Bypassing BitLocker encryption without the password is highly impossible task, as BitLocker is designed to protect data from unauthorized access. Unlike other data protection applications, Bitlocker is very complex. The thing you can access Bitlocker is via;
  1. Recovery Key: If you have a BitLocker recovery key, you can use it to unlock the drive. The recovery key is a 48-digit numerical password that can be used to gain access.
  2. Microsoft Account: If your device is linked to a Microsoft account, you might be able to retrieve the recovery key from your Microsoft account online via https://aka.ms/myrecoverykey (see screenshot below).

If none of these methods are viable, you might need to consider the data lost and focus on preventing future data loss through regular backups and secure password management.
