Where do you see the need for a password or PIN? The BIOS on the motherboard of a computer can have 2 passwords, for making changes in the BIOS itself and the one required to continue the boot process to the Operating System log-in screen. Then there's a password/PIN for the OS itself such as Windows, Linux or Macintosh.
