The 2024-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5040442) is giving me an error. It says, "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d)."

The update reaches 100% installation every time, then fails.

This error code usually means there might be some corrupted files in the Windows Update cache. You can try clearing the update cache by stopping the Windows Update service, deleting the files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download, and then restarting the service. After that, try running the update again.

I've faced this issue before, and running the DISM and SFC commands helped me fix it. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth followed by sfc /scannow. This will repair any corrupt system files that might be causing the update to fail.
