MS have announced that you will be able to install Windows 11 on an older computer - not more than four years old - but it must be done manually, and will not come as an update.
I still disagree with how MS are dictating to us how to use our security settings, but this one makes a little sense. Do it at your own risk!

I'm really puzzled about the lack of clarity here, as the picture seems to keep changing, especially with regards to TPM 2.0 and CPU gen.

Manually installing Windows 11 on older hardware is fine in many ways - like you say, at your own risk. I'll certainly be upgrading all my older systems to Windows 11 when I can :).

I think we've all come to appreciate that Microsoft has refined a lack of clarity to an art form.
I mentioned this with a link in a post here https://www.windows11forums.com/thr...s-11-minimum-system-requirements.34/#post-698

I'm not sure what "manually" means?
Obviously it involves the ISO, but....
Manual "Upgrade"?
OR
Does it mean a custom clean install?

Also the parts about Cumulative Updates perhaps not working and a higher percentage of BSODs is not particularly attractive either.

My own experience, which I do not read on other forums, is that a clean install loses your activation. No idea of the mechanics there, but manually putting in my old reg did not work. Keeping settings, etc, kept the OS active.
