I’m considering buying a Dell XPS 8960 desktop computer for photo editing, which comes with Windows 11 Pro installed. Currently, I use Windows 10 on an old computer that’s slow and can’t support Windows 11.

Will Windows 11 Pro be more difficult to use compared to Windows 11 Home, given that I am a retired non-business user in my 60s and only need basic functions? If Windows 11 Pro is more complex, can I downgrade to the Home version on a computer that comes with Pro installed?

Hi,
I am also in my 60ies and I discovered that Home and Pro licenses are often sold together. I initially had Home installed and then upgraded to Pro (more or less by hazard) during a big Update from Windows (clean install).
For a normal user there is no difference, except perhaps for encryption (which is however also possible in Home) and some very advanced settings you do not need (but can install separately) !
You can also go back from Pro to Home : https://www.elevenforum.com/t/downgrade-windows-11-pro-to-windows-11-home.8648/ but I would stay with Pro. Works very nice and smoothly !

I'd say to stick with the Pro version. It is not as restrictive as the Home version and gives users more control over their own pc. I have Windows 11 pro on my laptop and love it.
BTW: I am in my 60's as well and also do Photo editing (without those bulky Adobe programs)...

I have computers with Home and with Pro, not much operating difference. Pro would be better if I was on a Server-based Network instead of just a LAN.
