Yes, could be the fan. My newest Notebook [Oct. '21] has an NVMe SSD drive and no ODD so the only moving part in it is the cooling fan. Same for used Notebook from '19 I was given for parts but I rehabbed.

Do you know if the fan can be replaced?

Some links for pricing, could be inexpensive if able to make the change but having a shop do it will add at least an hour labor.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't even know how t do it. If it can last until late June, I'm going out to Denver. My broter's SIL is an HP tech. Might be cheaper if he can do it.
