A stupid question from an old-timer, I possibly has overlooked this somewhere before, sorry, but your player has sufficient power from the USB port, it opens and closes as one expects?

Power is a good thing to look at, USB 3 ports provide more than USB 2. Also, some USB drives, especially the older ones. use a Y-cable with one leg for data and power and the other leg for additional power, I have each type on hand. The length of the Y-cable needs the 2 ports close together.
